Pleexy enables you to manage your OneNote action items from Google Tasks and keep them in sync so that the information is the same on both ends. With Pleexy you can:
Create tasks in your Google Tasks from to-do tags in your OneNote notes.
Group all the to-do tags from one note under parent tasks.
Automatically complete OneNote to-do tags when you complete tasks in your Google Tasks. Start your 14-day free trial.
If you want to set this up just follow these steps:
Go to your dashboard in Pleexy
Select "Create a connection"
Choose the OneNote connection card
Connect your account
You can then customize Pleexy’s settings to integrate OneNote and Google Tasks exactly the way you want.
1. Introduction
On this page, you can customize the connection's name.
You can also adjust the settings for Source, Task template, Destination, and Sync options. Let’s walk through your options for each.
2. Source settings
Source settings let you configure how Pleexy searches for notes in OneNote.
You can filter your search by notebook, section, and tag type.
From notebooks: Select which OneNote notebooks Pleexy should search. You can select all of them or specific ones.
From sections: Select which notebook sections Pleexy should search. If you don’t select specific sections, Pleexy will search all sections in the specified notebooks.
Tags to sync: Select which OneNote tag types Pleexy should search. Again, if you don’t select specific tags, Pleexy will include all tag types in the specified notebooks and sections.
Available OneNote Tags include:
To Do
Discuss with person
Discuss with manager
To Do Priority 1
To Do Priority 2
Client request
Schedule meeting/Call back
Ignore notes older than: To focus on your most recent tasks, you can choose to ignore tasks you consider out-of-date. If you enter ‘60’ in the "and ignore tasks older than ___ days" field, Pleexy will ignore OneNote notes that haven’t been updated in the last 60 days.
For example:
Pleexy combines your settings for these four filters.
If you select the notebook 'Class To-Dos', select all sections, specify the tags 'To Do Priority 1' and 'To Do Priority 2', and enter 30 days, Pleexy will search for notes that meet all four requirements:
Located in Class To-Dos notebook
Located in any notebook section
Tag is To Do Priority 1 or To Do Priority 2
Updated less than 30 days ago
3. Task settings
In the Task template, you can specify how Pleexy creates, names, and synchronizes tasks and task attributes.
Under Task title, customize how Pleexy names your tasks in Google Tasks by adding text and selecting any of the given elements. For OneNote integrations, six elements are available for task names: {notebook}, {section}, {section_groups}, {page}, {task}, and {tag}.
As you change your task title template, Pleexy shows how your tasks will look in a live example above the template field. You can combine the macro elements however you want, as long as you get the formatting correct. Here are some ideas:
{task} from {notebook}: {tag}
{notebook} - {section}: {tag}
Note: If you manually edit a task title in Google Tasks, Pleexy won’t update or change your edited title.
You can also toggle on Create as subtasks under a parent task to create to-dos from the same note under one parent task in Google Tasks.
Use the {notebook}, {section}, and {page} elements to specify how parent tasks will be named in Google Tasks.
4. Destination settings
Destination settings define how Pleexy creates tasks in Google Tasks.
You have two destination options:
Put all tasks in one Google Tasks list: Create tasks from all OneNote notes in the same Google Tasks list. Click the pencil icon to select the To Do list to use. Note: If you want Pleexy to create tasks in a new To Do list, log in to your To Do account and create the new list there. Back in your Pleexy settings, click Refresh to update the list.
Create tasks in multiple lists in Google Tasks: Create tasks from each OneNote notebook in separate Google Tasks lists. (Read this article for more details about how Pleexy creates multiple lists in the destination).
Note: If a list with the same name already exists in the root list you select, Pleexy will use it instead of creating a new list. This way, Pleexy can combine tasks from different source services in the same list. For example, Pleexy will create tasks from a “Development” notebook in OneNote and a “Development” board in Trello in a single root list.
5. Sync options
Sync options let you control what Pleexy will do when you change, complete, or delete tasks in OneNote or Google Tasks—both sides of the integration!
First, tell Pleexy what should happen in Google Tasks when you complete or delete a to-do in OneNote.
Complete task: If enabled, Pleexy will mark the task as complete in Google Tasks when it's marked complete in OneNote.
Delete task: If enabled, Pleexy will delete the task in Google Tasks when it's deleted in OneNote.
Next, tell Pleexy what should happen in OneNote when you complete a task in Google Tasks.
Complete to-do: If enabled, Pleexy will mark the to-do as complete in OneNote when it's completed in Google Tasks.
Now you know all about your options for integrating OneNote with your Google Tasks! Don’t forget to scroll down and click Save when you’re finished customizing.
TIPS💡
Pleexy currently doesn't sync to-do items inside tables or as part of titles in OneNote.
Pleexy currently doesn't support groups for lists in Google Tasks.
Because of OneNote's API settings, the OneNote connection may take longer to sync tasks. We are working on this issue to do everything that we can from our side to improve the connection.
